AlphaBit is a team participating in the FTC robotics competition, from the “Mihai Eminescu” National College in Petroșani.

Our team was founded in October 2018, at the “Mihai Eminescu” National College,
Petroșani.It all started as a beautiful dream and turned into a lifestyle.
Through robotics, we have gained various skills that help us in everyday life and
will also help us in our future careers. In our team, we place great emphasis on community,
which is why we always try to develop people's mindset as much as possible and lead our
community toward change.
Our team is mostly made up of 9th-grade students, just beginning their journey in the
world of robotics.
We aim to increase our productivity, innovate in the design and
functionality of the robot, and demonstrate team spirit in competitions. Our ambition remains the
same: to reach the highest standards and, why not, to dream about qualifying for the World Championship.
23 March 2023, Bucharest
Activities:
- We participated in various workshops;
- We talked to Ion, an artificial intelligence in the form of a mirror, who is the personal assistant of the minister;
- We discussed with the Minister of Digitalization about the future of technology in Romania.
- We presented our activity in front of officials from the World Bank and impressed them.
- We held a presentation about possible ways to develop the Jiu Valley and how we are helping in this process.
Result: a very good collaboration between our team and World Bank officials, major events and projects together, the creation of Robotics Valley
20-23 June 2023, Bruxelles, Belgium
Purpose: Presenting robotics teams from the Jiu Valley at an international
level by qualifying for the final stage of the New European Bauhaus competition with the
robotics hub project from the Petrila Mining Exploitation.
Participating Teams: We participated together with the Wafy team through
Robotics Valley
Connections: At this event, we made many international connections, from architects to
European Commissioners:
- Krzysztof Kasprzyk - DG Regional and Urban Policy, at the European Commission.
- Elisa Ferreira - European Commissioner
- Oana Bogdan - Architect in Brussels
Number of participants: 3 participants from AlphaBit and 3 participants from Wafy out of 750 international participants
Result: We reached the final stage of the competition but did not win, yet the
final outcome of our journey was receiving valuable feedback on our project and improving it
with the information received.

At the beginning of the Robotics Valley project, we needed all the promotion we could get, so, through the Valea Jiului Implicată association, we received the opportunity to apply for the TV show Imperiul Leilor. We went through many stages, but in the end, we managed to pass all the auditions and were invited to appear on the show, however, after several discussions, we decided not to participate due to the high risks. After some time, the producers from Imperiul called us again and convinced us to participate. Once on set, we had to make some radical changes that made us...
